Agri Climate: Partners' Meeting (Bursa, Turkey)
The Agri-climate project is making steady progress. In September 2023, the partners convened in Bursa, Turkey, to address various project-related matters. The Municipality of Rosoman successfully reached out to 1000 farmers, conducting interviews and surveys to identify their requirements concerning agriculture and climate change. During the meeting in Bursa, partners reviewed the outcomes of these interviews and surveys, emphasizing the shared needs of farmers in Rosoman.
The main objective of this project is to integrate social dimensions into agri-climate change adaptations on local level. This project aims to involve the farmers from the local communities in the identification of the climate change problems and the decision making processes for the adaptation to climate changes. The social involvement of the farmers ensures that the production of the climate change adaptation measures is based on the real needs of the farmers.
The activities in the project are: Assessment of the initial social impact to determine and manage the intended and unintended social consequences that climate change has over agriculture at municipal level, Development of prototype Municipal Strategy for Climate Change Adaptation measures in Agriculture and Integration Guideline for social dimensions into agri-climate change adaptation and learning activities for reduction of the knowledge barriers of the farmers for climate changes adaptation.
On behalf of Omnia, our EU Project Manager, Mrs. Begum Chakmak, attended the meeting.
