Agri Climate: Partner's Meeting & Training (Cyprus)
The Transnational Partners’ meeting and training activity of the agri-climate project took place during the dated 20-24 May 2024 at Κτήριον 53, Nicosia, Cyprus.
During the transpantional meeting, the partners discussed the overview of the project status, engaged in an in-depth discussion on upcoming activities, and evaluated the completed tasks. The consortium is successfully moving towards the projects's aim which is to involve the farmers from local rural communities of North Macedonia and to identify climate change problems and how these can be mitigated within the farming sector, via sustainable adaptations. The involvement of the farmers in the project ensures that the proposed measures are based on the real needs.
During the training, ten farmers from North Macedonia participated as trainees and were equiped with theoretical and practical knowledge about climate change and agricultural methods, specifically addressing the following topics:
- General Information on climate change, the causes, current state, and future projections and impact on the farming sector.
- Social Drivers and Vulnerabilities: Exploring the relationship between societal structures and climate vulnerabilities.
- Case studies on how different communities are affected by and respond to climate change.
- Agricultural Technologies & Impacts on Health, Food, and Farm Size: Overview of advanced agricultural technologies and their role in adapting to climate change. Understanding the impact of climate change on health, food security, and farm operations.
- Mitigation and Adaptation Measures: Detailed session on strategies to mitigate climate change effects and adapt to its impacts.
- Local Agricultural Practices & Dealing with Climate Effects Practically: Insights into local agricultural practices that are climate resilient. Hands-on session on practical techniques and measures to deal with climate effects locally.
The trainees visited various places that serve as best agricultural practices in Cyprus.
