Food Chase: Partners' Meeting (Virtual)
Did you know that a staggering 52% of food loss occurs during the consumption phase?
Our journey begins with the completion of the first online meeting, led by Cosvitec Est - Cosvitec Università & Impresa (Leader), marking the launch of the FOOD CHASE EU project with mission to bridge the gap for sustainable food practices, dedicated to chasing food losses throughout the supply chain, preventing at the EU level.
The rationale behind FOOD CHASE is defined by the title of project: the international and multi- stakeholder consortium will collaborate in order to chase food all along the supply-chain to prevent food losses and the non-valorization of food wastes.
Food that is eventually lost or wasted represents a complex challenge, as its reduction requires change of established business practices and citizens’ habits. Annually, 88 million tons of food are wasted in the EU, around 20% of all food produces, with related costs estimated to be 143 billion euros. The problem of food waste at the European level has therefore reached significant dimensions and has prompted institutions to take countermeasures in the area.
