Space4Green: Promo Video
The Space4Green project, co-funded by the EU Agency for the Space Programme (EUSPA), is now in progress.
The project aims to introduce a technological solution that establishes a reliable platform for automated certification of activities and their location in a specific timeframe, eliminating the need for third-party human certification.
This project harnesses a unique combination of technologies, including Galileo, Europe's global satellite navigation system, and Copernicus, Europe's Earth observation and monitoring program. These technologies are applied across five Demonstration Cases, providing farmers with data-driven insights for every aspect of their operations.
To create a sustainable food system that prioritizes nature conservation, supports farmers, and offers nutritious, affordable food, it is crucial to explore space for innovative solutions. GNSS technologies now play a vital role in enhancing the way we grow, transport, and consume food.
These technologies contribute to ensuring transparency, traceability, and trust within agri-food value chains. They also aid in verifying the geographical origin of agricultural products (e.g., olive oil and wine) and provide metrics such as the Environmental Sustainability Index to guide sustainable farming practices for both arable and perennial crops.
